BHI Class: Writings of the Saints |

Begins Wednesday, September 15th, 7 - 9 pm
Journey with St. Teresa of Avila to the center of your soul in her spiritual classic, Interior Castle. St. Teresa is one of only three women who are Doctors of the Catholic Church. Interior Castle describes holiness as an interior journey into the depth of the soul to intimate union with the King, who dwells deep within. Students will read and discuss this classic work with course instructor Jennifer Widhalm. We guarantee you will gain powerful spiritual insights.

The course runs September 15, 22, 29 and October 6. Cost is $30 and financial assistance is available as needed. Since the course involves reading and discussing the text, it is highly recommended that you purchase the book a week or two before the course begins. Interior Castle can be purchased online or at your local Catholic bookstore. The BHI bookstore has it on sale for $13. (Mansions one and two will be discussed on the first night).

Band of Brothers & Sisterhood Barbecue Kickoff |

Tuesday, September 14th, 6 - 8 pm
Men's and women's small groups will be forming soon! To find out more about what being a part of Band of Brothers or Sisterhood entails, join us next Tuesday, September 14th at Loose Park for hamburgers, brats and more. We'll have lawn games and plenty of food to go around. Just bring yourself and a friend or two. An information session will take place at 7.30 pm. If interested, you will be able to sign up for a group that evening. Meet at the barbecue station north of the pond, just east of the rose garden.

Labor Day Weekend, 2010
Got
Labor Day Weekend plans? Mark your calendar for Nature's Call! Camping,
dancing, swimming, sports, amazing people (125+), and more! You can get
all this for the low price of just $5! (No RSVP necessary).
Saturday,
Sept. 4th: Meet at Cure of Ars Catholic Church for 8 am Mass. Convoy
from there to Pomme De Terre. Set up camp and spend the rest of the day
jumping out of trees, boating, swimming, playing Ultimate Frisbee,
Hillbilly Golf, Baggo, and cards! There will also be a street dance this
evening. A DJ will be rocking it out in true Ozark style. Historically,
NC campers take over the dance floor!
Sunday, Sept. 5th:
Outdoor Mass at the campsite, Nature's Call Iron Chef Competition, Men's
and Women's Greased Pig Competitions and more! Sunday night will be
similar to Saturday night, except more mellow. The crowd is typically
smaller and the night more peaceful and laid back. A totally different
feel.
Monday, Sept. 6th: Breakfast, closing Mass, clean up,
depart (usally around 10.30 am). All are welcome to stop at Peggy's
Restaurant with the group on the way back to KC. It's a great NC
tradition!

4th Annual Hee Haw Hoedown |

Friday, September 10th, 7 pm - midnight
Join us for a young adult
Hoedown at Red Barn Farm in the beautiful rolling hills of Weston,
Missouri! The evening will kick off with dinner catered by Zarda
Bar-B-Q: sliced beef, turkey and ham, world famous baked beans, homemade
slaw, potato salad, bread, chocolate chip cookies, and plenty of
lemonade, iced tea and beer to go around. Enjoy live music by the Burnt
Ends, followed by DJ selected two-steppin' songs into the night. If
dancing isn't your thing, there will be plenty of other activities:
Baggo, Hillbilly Golf, hayrides -- or you can sit around the campfire
just shootin' the bull. Cost is $15 if you purchase by 8/31, and $20
after that.

Fan Into Flame Retreat |

This retreat is being offered by the Archiodese of KCK.
This is an opportunity to take time away to learn more about Jesus, new life in the Holy Spirit, receiving God's Gifts and walking as a disciple... also, just plain fun with friends.
Cost is $85/person or $150/couple
Cost includes a double occupancy room with private bath and shower, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available on Saturday and Sunday Mass will be celebrated on the retreat.
The retreat team includes folks from Kansas City as well as members of the Community of Christ the Redeemer in St. Paul, MN.
Savior Pastoral Center is located at 126th and Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, KS
The retreat begins at 6pm on Friday and runs through 12:30pm on Sunday (September 17-19th).
