The purpose of the CCS Member spotlight is to recognize our members and help other members of the CCS community get to know you. So tell us a little bit about yourself by answering the following questions.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m originally from the St. Louis area, went to Rockhurst University for my Master’s, graduated in ’08, and have been in KC ever since. I work as a speech therapist in a hospital, and love that I get to meet so many great people and hear their stories. Currently, wedding planning is consuming my life – I’ll be marrying my best friend Matt in November.
2. What are your favorite hobbies?
Lately I have pursued a few sewing projects, which I really enjoy. I also love cooking, reading, shopping, hiking, working out, going to the lake, singing, cutting coupons, and visiting family and friends.
3. How did you first get involved in CCS?
My first sport was Ultimate Frisbee, but I remember starting Dodgeball more, because I hadn’t played before. It was a little scary at first, but once I got used to it, it was a lot of fun.
4. What is your favorite thing about living in
Kansas City ?
I like how it’s clean, easy to get around, and there are plenty of things to do here.
5. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
If it was rent-free, I would choose
Hawaii ! Nice and warm.
6. Who do you most admire? In what way does that person inspire you?
There are so many people I admire, all for different reasons. I admire my parents for always loving and supporting their 3 daughters. I also look up to my grandpa for being such a hard worker, even at 82 years old!
7. What are 3 goals that you have for the next year?
Get married, take a nice trip, and complete some more sewing projects.
8. If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one ability, what would it be?
I would love to be able to teleport, so I could visit my family any time without driving three and a half hours.
9. What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
Here are a few things:
- When I was 5, we went to Sea World, and I got to ride an elephant and fell in the fountain on the same day.
- I grew up with a tennis court in my back yard.
- I have an affinity for classic movies.
10. What has been your favorite CCS sport to play so far?
I like Ultimate Frisbee because it is such a great workout, and who could forget that double-overtime championship game last year? But every CCS sport has been fun because it’s a great way to meet new friends and get some exercise at the same time.
